Holy Grail OF USMC Registration Number Information

I will soon have a HUGE dump of information on USMC registration numbers.

A very interesting bit of information s that the USMC registration number were not all sequential. Meaning that an M151A1 could have a lower Registration number than an M151A2

946 - M151A2s - received - 27th October 1970 - USMC #s 385500 to 386445

1 - M151A1 - received - 6th June 1971 - USMC # 386446

1 - M151A1 - received - 11th January 1971 - USMC # 386454

The last 3 digits, or the whole registration number were sometimes painted on the seat cushion backs & gas cans.

Also unit markings were painted like the picture below "2134". This later (early 1990s) changed to this format "M13216" This indicated a specific USMC unit.

All M151A1s are 300000 series registration numbers

All M151A2s are 300000 or 50000 registration numbers
